The 140th Run For The Roses is scheduled this Saturday, May 3rd at Churchill Downs at 6:24pm Eastern (TV: NBC).  California Chrome has four straight victories by a combined 24 lengths. He’s a speedster and he isn’t the only speed entered in this race. He drew the 5 post and is the 5-2 morning line favorite.

Other colts worth a look include:

Samraat won 5 straight in NY before being bested in the Wood Memorial by Wicked Strong.

Wildcat Red is another speedster who won 2 stakes at Gulfstream this winter and just missed in another.

Hoppertunity will try to break the curse of Apollo and win the Derby without racing as a 2 year old.

Danza, Pletcher’s colt who improved dramatically to win the Arkansas Derby at 41-1.
