inAfter day one, I hope you are standing tall ready to battle the mega card on Saturday. Watch the Friday card and pay attention to the small details. Is it holding speed? – Is the rail dead? – Will the Euros love the California sun? – All questions that can be answered by going back and quickly glancing at the race replays. I hope you have your Wheaties, coffee, or Red Bull preparing for Day #2. – I think we’re going to see some incredible action!
F&M Sprint
#10 – Scylla = Bill Mott trainee and is lightly raced with two straight wins under her belt. She comes off a 70-day layoff. Mike Smith is in the irons and 10-1 morning line.
BC Turf Sprint
#6 – Star of Mystery = Charlie Appleby trainee with William Buick at the controls. She is making a 2nd off the layoff move back against the ladies. She has a huge late kick.
Distaff
#9 – Awesome Result = Daughter of Justify undefeated in Japan. She cuts back in distance and should be a player at 4-1.
BC Turf
#11 – Rebel’s Romance = 10/13 ITM and hails from the Appleby barn under William Buick. This son of Dubawi (IRE) is a solid off-the-pace runner.
BC Classic
#1 – Forever Young = Looking back he should have won the Ky Derby with a clean trip. He won his prep and looks like a Japanese runner worth putting on your tickets.
BC F&M Turf
#3 – Cinderellas Dream = Charlie Appleby trainee who has a strong late turn of foot down the lane. William Buick is in the saddle and this late runner is 6/7 with wins over the turf.
BC Sprint
#9 – Remake = In the 2023 Riyadh event he finished 3rd to top finishers Elite Power and Gunite who ran 1-2 in the Sprint. Dangerous.
BC Mile
#4 – Diego Velasquez = One of the most highly rated runners from Europe, and should enjoy the firm course at Del Mar. Should be mid-pack and give a strong today.
BC Dirt Mile
#14 – Skippylongstocking = Skipped the Classic and fits very well in here. Don’t let the post position change your mind. Joe Saffie and Irad Ortiz hook up and should be forwardly placed to grab a better position down the back side.
