Looking Back on Breeders’ Cup 3r6zy

After the Breeders’ Cup concluded, I’ve been pondering my thoughts about the two days of the best racing in the world. You have to it it was a spectacular show, and the opportunity to watch and wager on the best in the world is a blast. But, after the smoke clears. I’m left with thoughts and feelings.

There are too many races. – At one point in my life I used to go to the old Latonia Race Course in Kentucky and watch and wager on doubleheader cards. Yep, 20 races for the hearty horseplayer. the daytime card with the grandstand packed. By the third race on the evening card, the place emptied. At one point it was just my dad, his wife, and me sitting in a cavernous grandstand that held thousands. – I was so happy it seemed like Christmas came early. But, things change.

At most tracks, you get eight live races. 20 minutes in between posts, and the day moves right along with just the right amount of action. – Simulcast fills the void, and you get even more to wager during the smaller card. – I have been happier ever since. It allows me to keep my bankroll in order and plan accordingly.

I study a varied amount of handicapping info, and by the time the first race goes to post it feels good when the race concludes. – You can liken it to studying for your finals in college. The final work is so much to factor in. Weather, track biases leading up to the races, riders coming in for sure, late workouts, and video replays. – Inevitably, there will be a few defections and hopefully, yours will not be on the list. That gets you to the point of starting the process of finding three or more per race and determining how you’re going to use them in wagers. – If you put in 12 hours of handicapping and factoring the details, you have to put in as much time deciding how to maximize your wagering bankroll on wagers being made. – It sounds like I’m bitching, but on every horse racing VLOG or chat room among so do some of the best players in the world. They feel exactly the same burnout. It’s an incredible burnout, but one that can pay off boxcars if all goes right. – As I ended the crying session of putting in the work, I did pretty well on the two days.

All I’m saying is to cut it back to one day. Have ten races and let it happen. Fans can hardly play for two days with their butt in front of the computer or recliner watching their efforts at work. – At the end of the event, I take November and December off and come back hungry for more in January when the preps begin all over again. – It’s not a labor of hard work, but if you really care. You’ll put in the time. It’s the only way to have a logical shot at cashing in on the big prize.

I still follow the races during my downtime, but my betting takes a hiatus. It allows me to begin the process again with a hunger for winning that is rare. – The other real players feel the same, but they may or may not verbalize this. – Ten races and one day is fine. It allows me to keep sharper and ready for the battle of the betting.

I’ll be dropping blogs and putting up free selections. I like to go back and sharpen the skills in my handicapping toolbox. Keeps me ready and hungry. I look forward to Gulfstream Park, Fair Grounds, and Oaklawn. California later in the month. The buffet of betting will be served, and I’ll be sitting at the table with my attention back on winning. – Every year I go back and determine what I could have done better or left out of the process. – My friend asked me once; “when will you know everything you’ll need to handicap.” – When I crack open the DRF, E-Z Win Forms, and deep-diving data. I will quit when I don’t see something new daily. My friend this is the process of becoming a real bettor.  When it doesn’t grab your attention and teach you something new, there is always golf or fishing.

See you very soon, and when you see my picks and thoughts, take them in and compare them against your own. I bet you’ll be back in the game sooner rather than later. – Best of luck from Winning Ponies!

Breeders’ Cup – Saturday – Power Plays 6sl13

posted on October 31, 2024 in WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on Breeders’ Cup – Saturday – Power Plays

After day one, I hope you are standing tall ready to battle the mega card on Saturday. Watch the Friday card and pay attention to the small details. Is it holding speed? – Is the rail dead? – Will the Euros love the California sun? – All questions that can be answered by going back and quickly glancing at the race replays. I hope you have your Wheaties, coffee, or Red Bull preparing for Day #2. – I think we’re going to see some incredible action!

F&M Sprint

#10 – Scylla = Bill Mott trainee and is lightly raced with two straight wins under her belt. She comes off a 70-day layoff. Mike Smith is in the irons and 10-1 morning line.

BC Turf Sprint

#6 – Star of Mystery = Charlie Appleby trainee with William Buick at the controls. She is making a 2nd off the layoff move back against the ladies. She has a huge late kick.

Distaff

#9 – Awesome Result = Daughter of Justify undefeated in Japan. She cuts back in distance and should be a player at 4-1.

BC Turf

#11 – Rebel’s Romance = 10/13 ITM and hails from the Appleby barn under William Buick. This son of Dubawi (IRE) is a solid off-the-pace runner.

BC Classic

#1 – Forever Young = Looking back he should have won the Ky Derby with a clean trip. He won his prep and looks like a Japanese runner worth putting on your tickets.

BC F&M Turf

#3 – Cinderellas Dream = Charlie Appleby trainee who has a strong late turn of foot down the lane. William Buick is in the saddle and this late runner is 6/7 with wins over the turf.

BC Sprint

#9 – Remake = In the 2023 Riyadh event he finished 3rd to top finishers Elite Power and Gunite who ran 1-2 in the Sprint. Dangerous.

BC Mile

#4 – Diego Velasquez = One of the most highly rated runners from Europe, and should enjoy the firm course at Del Mar. Should be mid-pack and give a strong today.

BC Dirt Mile

#14 – Skippylongstocking = Skipped the Classic and fits very well in here. Don’t let the post position change your mind. Joe Saffie and Irad Ortiz hook up and should be forwardly placed to grab a better position down the back side.

Breeders’ Cup – First Look – Friday 4w1c52

by Ed Meyer

posted on October 22, 2024 in WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on Breeders’ Cup – First Look – Friday

The day after Halloween all of the sweets and treats are going to the handicappers. Certain meets opening their doors alert the bettors of things to come. The Derby is a day when the country is a horse racing fan. – The Breeders’ Cup is a day where the best meet the best, and this day is 100% for the gamblers of our sport. The folks that keep the lights on all year round and what a weekend it will be.

So, without further delay. Here are some runners that I like for the opening day of the big weekend.

Juvenile Turf Sprint

The race is 5f of pure speed and the Euros have been dominant in this race.

Ecoro Sieg = Japanese-based who broke the 23-year-old record for 6f this year. – He can come out of the gate slow, but the late turn of foot is something to behold.

Big Mojo = Charlie Appleby trainee and that should be evidence alone. He is 3/3 going 5f and won this race last year with Big Evs. – Look for a better break from the gate and a solid late kick turning for home.

Juvenile Fillies

The Japanese invaders look pretty sharp to me and need a good hard look before making your wagers.

American Bikini = She broke a record for 5f as a two-year-old in 57.1. – After that came back and ran lights out in a 7f affair. – Distance should not be the problem and with early speed, she should set up nicely.

Juvenile Fillies Turf

Mark Casse runners look sharp and ready, and don’t leave them off your tickets.

Vixen = Stalker who should enjoy a solid pace to run into when the real running begins. The final quarter of a mile should be perfect for her run, and hold off the late runners from out of the clouds.

Fiery Lucy = Euro who should put in a nice late run on the firm turf course. Aidan O’Brien runners usually get a piece of the prize and looks to be one of his best shots to cash in at a big price.

Juvenile

Citizen Bull = Baffert trainee going from a sprint to a route. The last 1/4 mile will be his best running.

East Avenue = Should be a dangerous player on the front end.

Juvenile Turf

This race should set up well for the Euros and stalkers just off the pace at Del Mar.

Zulu Kingdom = Hails from the Chad Brown barn and has a sharp turn of late foot to be ultra-effective down the lane.

Scorthy Champ = A balanced runner who can sit in mid-flight or be just off the leaders. With a strong late kick should be dangerous down the lane.

Here is a little something to get you thinking Breeders’ Cup. Be sure and your Winning Ponies E-Z Win Forms for the most comprehensive look into how the races will shape. – Best of luck from your friends at Winning Ponies!

2024 – Looking Back 4b6pg

by Ed Meyer

posted on October 13, 2024 in WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on 2024 – Looking Back

As I look back on the 2024 racing year, there were many incredible things to absorb. There is plenty to look back on for a small time track. Racing was just as hot, and tickets were cashed like the big boys. Once told a long-time friend, “It wasn’t meant to be Belmont, and it’s not. It’s a place for horses to run and other claimers to ply their trade.”

I’ve watched riders of all sorts over the years, and this year was no different. You see those using the small tine oval as the stepping stone to bigger things, and other riders getting a little older but still able to make it happen. – This year had me watching Irving Moncada who was voted apprentice of the meet, Oscar Villareal who only gets better with each mount, and Yoel Navas who rides with the tenacity of a journeyman rider who is not afraid to shoot the gap along the rail or “get low for the dough” and ride hard past the wire. – I’m sure we’ll hear plenty from these young men over the years.

Larry Smith is the definition of a gentleman horseman. He notched another title in 2024, and I’m sure it won’t be his last. Smith rides Perry Ouzts quite a bit and both being about the same age allows them to get on the lead and play catch me if you can. Both do their talking on the track and neither will be mistaken for the guy doing all the talking in the paddock. I love seeing his Stetson in the paddock and no instructions are necessary. Larry Smith brings them ready. All you need to add is the saddling equipment and give the rider a leg up.

Perry Ouzts is 70-years-old. Most would be found trying to play a round of golf, watching the grandkids, or catching the baseball game asleep in the recliner. Not for Perry. – Up at 5:30am and works out five or six in the mornings and back home for cheese and crackers and back to the races. Somedays he has two mounts, and others he rides the whole card. – This year Perry became the oldest rider to win a stakes race. Ouzts won the $75,000 Loyalty Stakes aboard Just Like Rambo going away into the pages of history once again. – I asked Perry if he was ready to hang up his tack. “Nope. I’m gonna come back next year and nail down Russell Baze’s record of 53,578 mounts. I’m only 150 away, and I want to do it here at Belterra Park.” – After that, we’ll see how things are going. I might just keep riding, or hang it up and work horses for my wife. Either way, it’s been a great journey.

I loved every race of the 93-day meet. Noel Herman notched his first career win, and former groom Jerry Dixon Jr. who took care of Derby winner Rich Strike grabbed his first win as a trainer. Miss a day, and you miss a lot. – I’m already counting the days as I watch football and Keeneland at the same time. – See you at the races!

Age is Only a Number 6s503d

I walk into the jock’s room to clock in and talk to the guys. Security guards doing a retirement gig, valets who were once riders relegated back to taking care of the jockeys silks, etc. But, they are still in the game. – I speak with a few riders and love it when the young guys come in and greet you with a handshake and a hug. Lady riders are greeted with a smile and a fist bump. – Then at 10:45am, the back door opens and a smallish man with wispy blonde hair walks through the door. “Hey, Ed; as a big handshake follows. – I’ve got five mounts today so I can only win five.” Same line every day, and even more mounts on other days. He’s been doing it longer than most of the riders combined. Perry Ouzts is 70 years old and has a mount in the $75,000 Loyalty Stakes today as one of his two mounts. The wispy clouds dot a deep blue sky with nothing in the forecast except exciting horse racing and the opportunity to win a few bucks.

Nine live races. Eight Thoroughbred and one Quarter Horse event. Of the eight, two are $75,000 Stake races. The Miss Southern Ohio for F&M Accredited Ohio Breds and the Loyalty Stakes for two-year-old Accredited Ohio Foals. Perry had a mount on Just Like Rambo who was (3-5) when the gates sprung open. Only five betting interests, but a two-horse entry and a three-horse entry. – Ouzts was 2 wide in the 7path as he broke sharply and stayed just off the leader. He started to turn up the heat as the 3/8th pole drew near and rolled right on by with a measured hand in the reins. Something we’ve enjoyed over 7,438 times in his career. And for those keeping scores at home, Perry Wayne Ouzts is only 177 total mounts from ing Russell Baze in having the most mounts in history.

Ouzts made it look pretty damn easy if you ask me, and I was impressed like I’ve been the past 35 years watching him ride. – In his two mounts he had a second-place finish for Kentucky Derby-winning trainer Eric Reed and one for his go-to-guy Larry Smith for Red Gate Farm, LLC. Just another day in the office as he seldom can be heard over a light whisper and treats it like a day at the office.

The only difference he is 70 years old. Some would be fishing, off to the beach, or just watching the ballgame on TV. – Not Perry. He is up at 5:30am, helping his wife Toni in the barn area working horses out, and off back home to clean up and have his half a sandwich and a cup of soup. This is what he loves. – I asked him the other day as our meeting is eight days from conclusion if he’d be back the next year. “Yeah, I think I’ll be riding a year or so. I’m gonna Russell Baze and I want to do it here. Then I’ll decide.”

I shook his hand the next day and congratulated him. I watched a racing legend head to his corner of the jock’s room and start his daily process of getting ready. – If you’re ever at the track and wonder who comes out of the room first. It can only be the one and only Perry Wayne Ouzts.

Keep your eyes peeled as he is only 177 mounts away from Baze. He’s a long way from Lepanto, Arkansas where he and his racing family lived, and Beulah Park in Columbus, Ohio where he rode his first winner Rablu in 1973. He’s easy to see with a small pom-pom matching the cap color on his helmet and his rapid-fire use of the whip. Perry does his talking on the track and leaves the talking to the others who finish behind him.

Faces in the Crowd 1k4mz

I was walking out of the track last week and the heat could cook an egg on the sidewalk. Miserable. But, after getting on the elevator an older gent I hadn’t seen in donkey years yelled; “Hold that please.” – He was ambling as my hand held the door. A little out of breath and a big smile greeted me as he walked inside. Boy, oh boy. I haven’t seen you in a long time.

I started the conversation about how hot and nasty it was that day; his response was simple. Give me a call in January. He was right. Point taken. – He said I can long ago when you were a parking lot kid. – He was right. Many moons ago I would collect the $1.50 per car and have a quick chat as he pulled up. From a white Lincoln, he would jog from to the ission windows to get his day underway. Man, it seemed like a lifetime ago. And looking back, it was. It was ours. A nice good-looking gent fit as a fiddle, and a younger man with a farmer’s tan who could stand all day on the blazing blacktop. – We are slower now, but still doing mostly the same. We stepped out on the ground floor, and he leaned against a table for a bit watching the screens showing races from around the world. “Hey, watch this race from New York. Good horses on the turf.” – I bellied up and we just talked about life. His was how much he had loved coming to the races and many of his friends from the past are gone now. “That’s the way of life and the races.”

Thinking while we watched the post-parade. He was right. Nothing lasts forever and enjoy the race while it is here. – He asked what I do during the winter and told him I go to Turfway Park as a placing judge. “Oh, one of the big guys, huh?” – No, just a parking lot kid doing what he has always loved. He smiled as we watched the race; a huge price horse circled the field and got up close to the wire. “Now that was a barn burner, huh?” – Yep, he will pay big balloons at the windows as my friend was still catching his breath.

I told him to stop upstairs and catch a race with me from the best seat in the house. – “I won’t be in the area much longer and looks like my racetrack days are over.” – My mind recalled the million times I watched him jog into the track as days turned into years into decades. I wasn’t sure what he meant, but something deep in my belly knew I wouldn’t see him again. “My kids want me to sell my house and I’ll be moving in with them in Maryland. Not sure if I’ll be back this way again, but I have surely loved the Cincinnati area. Baseball, and horses. A man’s paradise.” – I could still see his white Lincoln and the trim man making the jog to catch the double. He was just one of the million faces I would see over the years and for him to a face that Father Time had kissed was surprising. He shook my hand and wished me the best of luck. – His gait was slower as he walked a little and stopped a time or two on the way out to handicapped parking.

He still drove, but he would have been the first to tell you it takes him quite a while to get there. He climbed into a smaller car, as a Lincoln was just too big to handle. – He drove away as I walked to the car. A little slower myself these days, but grateful to stop along the way watching as the sprinklers douse the turf course and the track being harrowed for the next day’s races. – I’ve always said the best part of racing was the people you meet along the way. Today was just a little treat as two old fellas chatted and talked horses. I sure wish you the best my friend, and I hope your new place in Maryland is close to a track or an OTB.

Travers Day – Free Selections 6435e

by Ed Meyer

posted on August 20, 2024 in WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on Travers Day – Free Selections

Who said there is no such thing as a free lunch? – There are some great races all weekend long and Saratoga has the best card on tap by far. – Take a look at the runners and see for yourself. The weather will be sunny in the 70’s and the racing looks to be top-shelf.

Race #9 – The G1 Sword Dancer – 1 1/2 on the inner turf – 3:44pm

#4 – Silver Knott = Flavien Prat in the irons for Charlie Appleby and they are winning 43% as a team. 2nd time off the layoff and the Appleby barn wins 41% on this move. Look for a smooth stalking trip close up and looking to turn up the heat as they begin the turn. The son of Lope De Vega (IRE) gets an extra 1/8th of a mile to run and should be close to the leaders. They want to go four straight wins and make plans for the Breeders’ Cup.

Race #10 – The G1 Ballerina – 7f on the main track – 4:20 pm

#4 – Society = A daughter of Gun Runner who sports perfect stalking speed in the hands of Tyler Gaffalione for Steve Asmussen. She is coming off two efforts where she was bumped around quite a bit and a cleaner trip will have her in a good spot today. She is 6 starts with 5 ITM efforts going 7 s.

Race #11 – The G1 Forego – 7f on the main track – 4:55pm

#8 – Cagliostro = Plenty of early speed and up-close stalkers. This son of Upstart should be off a little more than usual going 1 mile to 7f today, and Jose Ortiz for Cherie DeVaux should make a strong late effort down the lane. Add in those two last bullets works and he looks to be a major player ready to score.

Race #12 – The G1 Allen Jerkins – 7f on the main track – 5:30pm

#8 – Book Em’ Danno = There should be a hot pace on the lead and most of the race. This will set up perfectly for a late close under Javier Castellano for Derek Ryan. This is his 3rd start since coming back from Dubai and exits off a Saratoga win, and stakes win at Monmouth Park. Off two straight wins, he sports a sharp work in the morning over the Monmouth course.

Race #13 – The G1 Travers – 1 1/4 on the main track – 6:10pm

#  – Thorpedo Anna should set a very quick pace along the rail with Fierceness keeping the tempo hot as well. Look for an exciting race all the way around and will fall into the hands of an up-close stalker.

#7 – Dornoch = Luis Saez will be right off the speed for Danny Gargan and move at the top of the lane. This son of Good Magic is 2/2 ITM at Saratoga and exits a win in the Belmont Stakes going a 1 1/4. Saez wins 16% with early stalkers and since the Derby is a perfect 2/2. His dam Puca has 3 starters and 3 winners to her credit with 2 stakes winners. She was a stakes winner herself and bloodlines that go back to Curlin and Big Brown are solid building blocks for racing. Look for a sweeping move to the speed and Saez will have a little more in the tank down the lane.

Be sure to your Winning Ponies E-Z Win Forms as they are always on their “A” game on marquee days. They will give you a comprehensive view on how the races will take shape. Best of luck from your your friends at Winning Ponies!

What Happened at Belterra This Week 236o29

by Ed Meyer

posted on August 18, 2024 in WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on What Happened at Belterra This Week

There were eight live races each day Wednesday – Saturday, as fans came out to enjoy the live racing action. – There is something special about attending the races instead of watching and wagering at home on the computer. Save those days when the weather gets cold and you’re just as happy wearing your fuzzy sweats and playing the ponies at home. Sunshine, warm weather, and even though the track was sloppy one day and good another, looking ahead to this week are cooler temps and sunshine to keep the turf in good order.

Wednesday:

The first two races were won by a neck in each event. But the special part was watching the fifth leading rider in history win both and head home on his black souped-up motorcycle. The 2nd race was a four-horse race due to scratches and a horse reared at the start spotting the field 12 lengths. Gabriel Lagunes did an incredible job of coming from last place to grab the lead down the stretch. All looked like an incredible feat until the 70-year-old magician in the saddle came up the rail and squeezed through a spot where you could hardly throw a playing card. As they neared the wire they were on even until Perry Ouzts went to the left stick and came through getting up right in the shadow of the wire. – A 70-year-old rider won for a 76-year-trainer. Take a look for yourself.

RACE 2 PROGRAM 8 14 2024 (youtube.com)

Saturday:

Every once in a while, you see a couple of riders you know have bigger things on the horizon. I have watched a young rider by the name of Yoel Navas who will have big things in his future, and another by the name of Irving Moncada. The latter is more ready to make that next big move, and it is only a matter of time before he’ll make the big break in his career. Here are a couple mounts he had on Saturday.

(1) RACE 3 PROGRAM 8 17 2024 – YouTube

RACE 5 PROGRAM 8 17 2024 (youtube.com)

I saw many friendly faces during the week, chatted with some long-time friends, and enjoyed every single minute of live racing action in the summer. – With only 29 days left in the 93-day meet, it won’t be long until they’ll be moving on. If you are close enough to catch the action, come on out and spend the day. If not, watch and wager from your favorite OTB or just play from home. You’ll see riders on their way up the ladder to bigger things and jockeys still plying their trade after all of these decades.

Nothing like the sun on your face; a cold drink in your hand and hollering for your horses as they turn for home. If it’s not here, catch some live racing action before the summer fades to fall. Trust me, a bad day at the track beats a good day at work! – Best of luck from Winning Ponies!

Turf Racing at Belterra Park / Thursday – Saturday 1z5z11

by Ed Meyer

posted on August 7, 2024 in WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on Turf Racing at Belterra Park / Thursday – Saturday

Everyone loves racing on the greensward. There is something special about watching them thunder for home on the lush sod. Wednesday has a 30% rain, but the sunshine is loose for the remainder of the week. – There was no turf racing last week due to heavy rains and the turf has greened up very nicely and awaits the horses to cross over to the turf course. – What are ya waiting for? It’s almost post time!

Thursday – Belterra Park

Race #1 – #6 – Shear ( 5-2) = The rider and trainer are 3/3 ITM the past two weeks and jockey Eder Martinez is winning at a 29% win clip the past 60 days with Richard Estvanko. They drop in class today and switch to a rider who does magic for this barn. She’s a late runner and Martinez wins at 45% on the turf with closers.

Race #5 – #2 – Authoritarian (2-1) = Eder Martinez and Richie Estvanko team up again, shooting for four straight wins and 12/14 ITM on the grass. Versatile son of English Channel and looks to be a push-button runner who loves the course.

Friday – Belterra Park

Race #1 – #8 – Link to Destiny (5-2) = Also entered for Thursday and must be a reason to dodge some others to find this spot. Juan Cruz Rios in the irons for Wesley Ward, and this son of Data Link is 4/5 ITM over the sod and the barn is winning at a 29% win clip for the meet. Shooting for three straight wins and the trainer wins 42% off a last race win looking for a repeat.

Race #5 – #4 – Devil of Paradis = Filly who can sport some speed under Rolnadon Arago for MIke Evans II. The trainer wins 26% first time on the grass and the bullet work of 48.3 is the best at Thoroughbred Training Center as the best of 85 works.

Race #7 – #7 – Miliondolarmonkey = 3rd off the layoff for apprentice rider Yoel Navas aboard for Yoni Orantes. Navas is 30% ITM on the turf and ships back from Horseshoe Indianapolis and should appreciate the class relief. Look for solid speed from this daughter of Lemon Drop Kid.

Saturday – Belterra Park

Race #1 – #4 – Waylaid (5-2) = Walther Rodriguez in town for trainer Wesley Ward and this son of Animal Kingdom is making his 2nd start of 2024. Two starts and two second place finishes on the green. The rider wins 26% on the weeds and 70% shipping in to ride for Wesley Ward. Look for a stalking trip loaded to pounce around the far turn.

Race #5 – #4 – Coal Boss (7-2) = Drops in class today shipping in from CD. Rider John McKee is red hot scoring 11/13 ITM the past week and winning at a 29% clip for the meet. Has a 52 day layoff and facing much lesser company for Greg Foley.

Race #7 – #5 – Infinite (5-2) = David Flores in the saddle for Wesley Ward. The same David Flores who has won three BC races, Hollywood Gold Cup, Santa Anita Derby and the UAE Derby. He was a beaten chalk last out and makes his 2nd start of 2024. He has been off 50 days and should improve moving back to a sprint. Flores works many of Wesley’s big horses these days and rides sparingly in the races. Be nice to see a wire to wire victory today.

Nothing like turf racing and the course had a week long rain seven days ago looking lush and green. The turf rail is set at 14 feet and the outside posts will have some tough road to overcome. – Speed and stalkers do well, and don’t be afraid to pull the trigger of long range closers. Overall, the track is fair and with a nice little break last week should freshen it up nicely.

Free Saratoga Selections – Thursday, 8/1/2024 w195h

by Ed Meyer

posted on July 30, 2024 in WinningPonies.com | Comments Off on Free Saratoga Selections – Thursday, 8/1/2024

Nothing like a “free lunch?” – You betcha. Having free selections to get your inner horseplayer cranking up for the weekend is a great way to build your bankroll. Enjoy, and be sure to your favorite tracks from the Winning Ponies EZ Win Forms.

Race #2 – #4 – Summer in Erin = First time starter for the Christophe Clement barn who is 17% with new runners taking the track. His sire Summer Front is winning 13% with his firsters taking to the greensward. His dam, Erin Rose has 4 starters, and 4 winners to her credit with three of those on the turf. Solid work pattern and rider Irad Ortiz is winning 27% with his turf runners for the barn. (9-2) would be a good value in here today.

Race #3 – #5 – Aspen Grove = Comes off a 55-day layoff and makes a huge drop-in class from graded competition. Tyler Gaffalione for Jack Sisterson is a good team, and they have sharp works and Lasix which should make this daughter of Justify a free spot in multi-race wagers.

Race #6 – #8 – Iron Max = The two-year-old was off slow in his opener and still managed to report home to finish a solid 4th. Manny Franco has the call for Jeremiah Englehardt and the barn wins 18% with second-time runners, and the rider/trainer team up to win 20% as a team. Look for solid improvement.

Race #9 – The Glens Falls – #5 – Eternal Hope = Flavien Prat gets the nod for the Charlie Appleby yard. She’s been off for 9 months but was put on the shelf with straight wins to her credit. The barn wins 30% with well-rested runners making the comeback and Prat is winning 21% with late runners on the weeds. The trainer comes back to win 47% off a last-race winner on the shelf. Teaming up two powerhouse players, and I can see Prat giving Chalie Appleby a win today storming for home.
